What you’ll learn.
*Basic machine operation and ironing techniques.
*Basic stitches, cutting, pinning and construction.
*The tools you’ll need and don’t need, and what to do with each.
*Earn your Certificate of Completion.
*You will be a seamstress when you complete all your lessons!
You will receive a checklist of skills you learn. It’s super fun to check off skills as you learn them.
Classes are meant to be fun. It is an exciting thing to journey to a new skill.
Classes are for absolute beginners that are adults. Children would receive different lessons. Most of my students were ashamed of being grown and not knowing how to sew. I say, heck, be proud you wanna learn. There isn’t a rule that says women should sew. I do say though, that people who want to learn should have the chance.
I’ve been sewing for over 40 years now. Seen it, done it. Take advantage of my willingness to teach you hands on.
You’ll be a little nervous to start. Don’t be. It’s all fun and I’ll walk you through it.
I suggest not spending a fortune on a new machine. You gotta know if you like sewing before you waste a ton of money on a machine. Nice ones sell for about a hundred. Brother® and Singer® are good brands.
New pins, yes. You’ll need those. Good scissors. For thread, never ever get the off brand. It’ll break your project to bits. Get Coats & Clark®.
This is approximately what we can expect from each class, as learned from my previous sewing course students. Everyone has their own pace and that’s okay. My goal is to teach those who want learn the skill.
